Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is an interesting background to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where gambling hall gaming is not allowed. Eight gambling dens are based in a generally small location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent spot, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The astonishing income gained from the gambling halls ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a few limitations constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; although, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to cross, there are ways around this, as is accurate of many borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary boat gambling den, features 150 one armed bandits and sixty tables. The Naga river boat never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are 150 slot machines and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred one armed bandits and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and 66 of the common tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight casinos in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international vacation and hotel building that contains a number of luxuries accompanying the gambling hall, which houses ten thousand square feet of 130 slot machine games and eighty eight gaming tables.
