Cambodia Gambling Dens
Saturday, 1. February 2025
There is a captivating history to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which gambling hall gaming is prohibited. Eight gambling dens are established in a relatively small space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent location, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The astonishing income accrued from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; still, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 1700, and despite the fact visas are supposedly needed to pass, there are means around this, as is true of most borders.
The initial Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked boat gambling den, highlights one hundred and fifty slots and sixty tables. The Naga gambling hall is open 24 hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slots and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the familiar tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight casinos in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational vacation and hotel compound that features many amenities in addition to the gambling den, which offers 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 one armed bandits and eighty eight table games.
